Community in Action: YO! Baltimore Eastside and YouthWorks Team Up to Serve Their Neighbors
On July 10th, the spirit of community was alive and well in East Baltimore as participants from YO! Baltimore Eastside joined forces with YouthWorks interns to distribute fresh produce to local residents. This hands-on service project wasn’t just about food—it was about connection, care, and giving back to the community.
Adding to the day’s impact, staff from Dee’s Place Wellness & Recovery Center stepped away from their usual roles to join in the effort, demonstrating the power of collaboration across HEBCAC’s programs. Their presence reminded us all that wellness comes in many forms—and sometimes it looks like showing up with a smile and a bag of vegetables.
Whether through education, employment, or recovery support, these programs—YO! Baltimore, Dee’s Place, and YouthWorks—share a common goal: to build stronger futures by investing in people. Today’s produce giveaway was a small but meaningful example of what that community looks like in action.
We’re grateful to all who participated and we’re looking forward to what our Youth will do next.
